Oliver Tops IMCA Hobby Class at HOT

Elm Mott, TEXAS (June 14, 2013) – Jeremy Oliver took the checkered flag in the IMCA hobby stock feature Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway ahead of Andy Roller and Shannon Dulock.

Keith White, Justin Radcliff, and Keith Green were the first three IMCA modifieds to cross the finish line.

David Goode, Jr. inherited the IMCA SportMod win after the first and second place finishers were disqualified in post race inspections.  Kevin and T.J. Green advanced to second and third.

Eric Jones battled Jason Batt and Charles Cosper as the trio brought the crowd to their feet in an exciting I-stock feature race and finished one, two, and three.

Wade White claimed the win in the street stock feature with David Khoury in second and Ray Kemp, Jr. in third.

Kevin Smith took home the winner’s trophy in the bomber class.  Jimmy Reid ran second and Andrew Richards took third.

Hayden Wade made it two in a row with another win in the junior mini stock race.  Taylor Florio and Preston Jacobs rounded out the top three.

Larry Underwood, John Fikes, and Trevor Tunmire carried home first, second and third place trophies in the Texas Twister class.

Next Friday is the Kids’ Silver Rush along with a regular program for IMCA modified, IMCA SportMod, IMCA hobby stock, street stock, bombers, junior mini stocks and Texas Twisters.  I-Stock will be running a feature only for mid-season.

ASCS Gulf South Sprints Visit HOT

Elm Mott, TEXAS  (June 7, 2013) – Kevin Ramey went home with the win in the ASCS Gulf South feature race Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway.  Channin Tankersley ran second, and Tommy Bryant took third.

Keith White led Jarrod Jennings and Keith Green to the checkered flag in the IMCA modified feature.

Brothers T.J. and Kevin Green topped the IMCA SportMod field in the feature race with Chris Cogburn in third.

Cody Frank, Jeremy Oliver, and Andy Roller picked up points and prizes for the top three spots in the IMCA hobby stock feature.

Jason Gauntt ended a long dry spell with his second win since the season opener in the street stock feature.  David Khoury took second, and Wade White raced to third.

Doug Andrews mastered the Bomber feature with the win ahead of Ryan Hopkins and Steve Wade.

Hayden Wade made his first trip to Victory Lane after a win in the Junior Mini Stock feature.  Taylor Florio and Preston Jacobs were second and third.

David Ballard, Larry Underwood, and John Fikes were the first three Texas Twisters to reach the checkered flag.

Next Friday is a regular race program for IMCA Modified, I – stock, IMCA SportMod, IMCA Hobby Stock, Street Stock, Bombers, Junior Mini Stocks, and Texas Twisters.

Davidson Scores Mini Sprint Win at HOT

Elm Mott, TEXAS (5/31/2013) – Dustin Davidson found the groove that led to Victory Lane and his first feature win of the season in the mini sprint feature on a night ripe with first time winners Friday at the Heart O' Texas Speedway.  Reagan Reed raced to second, and Colby Estes took home third place winnings.

Ben Ketteman was another first time winner for this season in the IMCA modified feature.  Keith White and Keith Green followed in second and third.

Keeping the trend alive, Robert Scrivner picked up his first winner’s trophy of the year in the IMCA SportMod feature trailed by Kevin Green and Sidney Kiphen.

The I-Stock feature resulted in the first win of the season for Adam Swartz.  Jason Batt ran second, and Peter Delavan was third.

David Khoury was a first time winner in the street stock class. Benji Kirkpatrick claimed second, and Bobby Mercer, Jr., finished third.

First time winner of the year in the bomber class was Doug Andrews.  Thomas Bailey and Andrew Richards were second and third.

Andy Roller in hobby stock, James Hollingsworth in junior mini stock, and Larry Underwood in Texas Twisters all picked up their second feature wins for the year.  Cody Frank and Nathan Sodek followed Roller.  Taylor Florio and Dakota Collier rounded out the junior mini stock top three, and John Fikes and Benji Booth carried home second and third place trophies in the twister class.

The ASCS Gulf South Sprint cars will be visiting the track next Friday night.  IMCA modified, IMCA SportMod, IMCA hobby stock, street stock, bombers, junior mini stock, and Texas Twister classes will also be competing.

9th Annual SportMod Nationals Return May 23-25

WACO, Texas – The winner’s share of the purse has been upped to $3,000 for the biggest event on the 2013 schedule for IMCA Scoggin-Dickey Parts Center Southern SportMods.

Heart O’ Texas Speedway at Waco hosts the Friday and Saturday, May 24-25 Southern SportMod Nationals.

Second place pays $2,000 with $1,500 for third, $1,000 for fourth, $800 for fifth, $600 for sixth, $500 for seventh, $400 for eighth, $300 for ninth and $250 for 10th. A minimum of $200 will be paid to start the 24-car feature, making the total purse for the feature more than $13,000. Non-qualifiers get $150.

IMCA Speedway Motors Weekly Racing National and Allstar Performance State points will be awarded.

New on Saturday is the $350 to win, minimum $50 to start Southern SportMod All-Star Invitational.

All drivers who have won sanctioned features in the division since May 31 of 2012 through May 23 this season will be eligible to qualify for the 12-car All-Star field. Invitations will be mailed to eligible drivers, who are asked to notify IMCA if they’ll compete in the event.

“With the SportMod Nationals moving to May from a fall date, the All-Star Invitational replaces the Race of Champions,” IMCA Vice President of Operations Brett Root explained. “While we’ll have point leaders at every track, we’re a long ways from determining champions. Making feature winners eligible means more drivers can be part of this race.”

SportMod heats, ‘B’ features and qualifying features will be held both Friday and Saturday. IMCA Modifieds and IMCA Sunoco Hobby Stocks are also on the Friday program. The Sprint Series of Texas completes the Saturday card.

Pit gates and the grandstand open at 6 p.m. both days at Waco. Hot laps are at 7 p.m. and racing follows the 7:45 p.m. drivers’ meeting.

Grandstand admission will be $12 for adults, $3 for kids ages 6-11 and free for five and under. Pit passes are $25.

Pit gates open at 6 p.m. and an open practice runs from 7-9 p.m. Thursday, May 23. Pit passes are $12 and grandstand admission is free.

No other sanctioned Southern SportMod events will be hosted in Texas the weekend before Memorial Day. Temporary licenses good only for the Southern SportMod Nationals will be sold for $30.

Kids Rule at HOT

Elm Mott, TEXAS  (May 17, 2013) – Between the excitement of Kids’ Bicycle races and a very close finish between James Hollingsworth and Preston Jacobs in the junior mini stock feature, fans were treated to plenty of fun-filled racing action Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway.  Twelve different age groups of cyclists competed in bike races, and each took home a winners’ or participation trophy.  Hollingsworth edged out Jacobs for the win in the junior mini feature, and Dakota Collier followed in third.

Thomas Bailey took home his first winner’s trophy of the season in the Bomber feature Friday night after the race winner was disqualified in a post race inspection.  Chad Pelham advanced to second and Ryan Hopkins to third.

Keith White, Pat McGuire, and Johnny Sheets were the first three IMCA modifieds to cross the finish line in the feature race.

George Egbert topped T.J. Green and Sidney Kiphen as the trio led the IMCA SportMod field to the checkered flag.

The IMCA hobby stock winner was Cody Frank with Andy Roller in second and Garret Rawls in third.

Bobby Mercer, Jr. continued his dominance of the street stock class with another feature win.  Brandon Hood made the job a little tougher finishing a close second, and David Khoury ran third.

John Fikes, David Ballard, and Larry Underwood were the top three finishers in a spirited Texas Twister showdown.

The Speedway will be hosting the 9th. Annual IMCA Southern SportMod Nationals on Memorial Day weekend.  Practice is Thursday, May 23, from 7:00 – 9:00 P.M.  Friday, May 24, is the first night of the Nationals with racing for IMCA SportMods, IMCA Modifieds, IMCA Hobby Stocks, Junior Mini Stocks, and Texas Twisters.  The Nationals will conclude on Saturday, May 25, with IMCA SportMods, Street Stocks, Bombers, and the Sprint Series of Texas on tap.  Racing begins at 8:00 P.M. both nights.  Admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors/students. $3 for children (6-11), free for children five and under, and $25 for pit passes.  Check our website at www.heartotexspeedway.com for additional information on lodging and racing.  Hope to see you there for a great weekend of motorsports.

Jacobs Tops Junior Mini Field at HOT

Elm Mott, TEXAS (May 3, 2013) --    Preston Jacobs took home his fourth winner’s trophy in a row after winning the junior mini stock feature Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway.  Taylor Florio followed in second, and Robert Black, Jr. ran third.

Colby and D.J. Estes claimed the top two spots in the non-wing mini sprint feature.  Joe Starnes collected third place winnings.

David Williams, Steve Barton, and Clint Mayne were the first three wing modifieds to reach the checkered flag.

Keith White won the IMCA modified feature with Keith Green and Chad Estes in second and third.

T.J. and Kevin Green picked up the prizes for the first two spots in the IMCA SportMod feature.  Jarrett Roberts ran third.

The IMCA hobby stock winner was Nathan Sodek with Paul Scrivner in second and Shannon Dulock in third.

Bobby Mercer, Jr. reached the finish line first in the street stock feature.  Wade White was second, and David Khoury scored third.

Ryan Hopkins, Kevin Smith, and Thomas Bailey lead the bomber field under the flag stand on the checkered flag lap.

Drivers in all four IMCA classes competed for local, regional, and national points at the IMCA Lone Star Series races held Sunday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway following the Fourth Annual Wall of Fame Induction ceremony. 

J.P. Dowell earned the win in the IMCA Modified feature.  Matt Guillaume took home the winner's trophy in the I-Stock class.  Gabe Tucker claimed the win in the IMCA SportsMod race, and Garett Rawls was the winner in the IMCA Hobby Stock class.

Silent Auction Raises over $4000 for West at HOT

Elm Mott, TEXAS (April 26, 2013) – Thanks to a large variety of donated race related items from both drivers and fans, over $4000 was raised for the Victim of the West Explosion fund from a silent auction for items ranging from autographed driver photos to helmets to race car parts. A driver’s door panel, specially decorated with a “pray for West” theme and autographed by drivers, was donated by the winning bidder for display in the History of West Museum, currently in the planning stages.

In racing action, Keith White collected another feature win in the IMCA modified main with Justin Radcliff in second and Jarrod Jennings in third.

J.C. Howell made his first trip of the season to Victory Lane after winning the IMCA SportMod feature.  Jason Honey and T.J. Green were the second and third place finishers.

Nathan Sodek was the first IMCA hobby stock to reach the checkered flag in the feature.  Shannon Dulock ran second, and Cody Frank took third.

Bobby Mercer, Jr., David Khoury, and Brandon Hood claimed the top three spots in the street stock feature.

The Bomber feature winner’s trophy went home with Andrew Richards.  Jimmy Reid and Ryan Hopkins were second and third.

Preston Jacobs made it three in a row with another win in the junior mini stock race.  Dakota Collier and Robert Black, Jr. followed in second and third.

Another three in a row winner was David Ballard in the Texas Twister class.  John Fikes ran second, and Larry Underwood finished in third.

The fourth annual Wall of Fame induction ceremony will add the names of ten more racing legends beginning at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday afternoon.  Admission to the ceremony is free.

Admission tickets will be sold beginning at 5:00 P.M. on Sunday for the IMCA Lone Star Series race for IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Hobby Stocks, and I-Stocks. Racing will begin at 7:00 P.M.

$5000 Collected for Victims in West at HOT

Elm Mott, TEXAS (April 19, 2013) – Drivers, owners, and fans took time out from the usual excitement of a visit from the ASCS sprint cars to remember the victims of the recent explosion in nearby West, many with close ties to the Speedway family, and to honor the first responders involved in the disaster.  Members of the Elm Mott Fire Department, who serve as the safety team at the track every week, were saluted for their efforts.  Drivers passed helmets through the grandstands, provided T-shirts for sale, and some added the prize money they won for a total of $5000 to be given to the Victims of the West Explosion relief fund. 

When word was received about a convoy approaching to transport four of the fireman who lost their lives from West to Waco, racing was paused and fans lined the parking lot facing Interstate 35 to applaud and wave in support of the fallen and their escorts.

When racing resumed, Jason Johnson from Eunice, Louisiana, picked up the prize for the LPI Duel on the Brazos for the ASCS Gulf South Region sprint car feature.  Johnny Herrera was second, and Cole Wood took third in the field of 41 visiting racers from as far away as Kansas, New Mexico, and California.

William Gould traveled from Oklahoma and donated his first prize winnings from the IMCA modified feature to the relief efforts.  Keith Green and Keith White ran second and third.

Steve Hayes logged the win in the IMCA SportMod feature and added his winnings to the relief fund.  He was followed by J. C. Howell and Chris Cogburn.

Jeremy Oliver led Nathan Sodek and Garett Rawls to the finish line in the IMCA hobby stock main.

Kevin Smith won the Bomber feature with Kevin Harper in second and Steve Wade in third.

Preston Jacobs passed a post race inspection to retain his win in the junior mini stock feature ahead of Taylor Florio and Dakota Collier.

Next week’s double-header weekend will include the Kids’ Silver Rush on Friday night with IMCA modified, IMCA SportMod, IMCA hobby stock, street stocks, bombers, junior mini stocks, and Texas Twisters competing.  The Fourth Annual Wall of Fame ceremony will add the names of ten former racers to the growing ranks of those already inducted at 2:00 P.M. 

 A silent auction for race related items will be held on Friday, April 26, to raise more money for the families displaced in West.  Admission is free for the ceremony.

The IMCA Lone Star Series race will begin at 7:00 P.M. for IMCA classes.  Admission tickets will be sold beginning at 5:00 P.M., and racing will begin at 7:00 P.M.

Oliver Tops Hobby Class at HOT

Waco, TEXAS (April 12, 2013) – Jeremy Oliver led the IMCA hobby stock field to the finish line for the win Friday night at the Heart O’ Texas Speedway.  Shannon Dulock and Garett Rawls were the second and third place finishers.

Keith Green made it two in a row with another IMCA modified feature win.  Cody Daniel ran second, and Justin Radcliff took third.

George Egbert won the IMCA SportMod feature followed by Chris Cogburn in second and Bobby Mercer, Jr. in third.

J.C. Howell picked up the I-stock feature win.  Eric Jones trailed in second, and Tristan Carman ran third.

Bobby Mercer, Jr. took home the winner’s trophy for the street stock feature with Ed Thompson in second and Brandon Hood in third.

The bomber feature winner was Andrew Richards.  Steve Wade took second, and Jimmy Reid was third.

Preston Jacobs, James Hollingsworth, and Justin Ketcher were the first three junior mini stocks to cross the finish line in the junior mini stock feature.

David Ballard, Kristen Horn, and Larry Underwood finished first, second, and third in the Texas Twister race.

D.J. Estes won the mini sprint feature with Dustin Davidson in second and Aaron Dromgoole in third.

The LPI Duel on the Brazos for the ASCS Sprint Cars Gulf South Region will be held next Friday night.  IMCA Modifieds, IMCA SportMods, IMCA Hobby Stocks, Bombers, and Junior Mini Stocks will also be competing.

Green to Checkered at HOT

Waco, TEXAS (April 5, 2013) – Keith Green was the first IMCA modified to reach the checkered flag in the feature race Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway.  Keith White finished in second, and Jarrod Jennings took third.

James Holder inherited the win in the IMCA SportMod feature when the winner was disqualified in a post race inspection.  T.J. Green moved to second, and Gabe Tucker advanced to third.

Cody Frank earned the winner’s trophy in the IMCA hobby stock main.  Andy Roller and Jeremy Oliver trailed in second and third.

Bobby Mercer, Jr. David Khoury, and Wade White were the first three street stocks to cross the finish line in the feature.

Ryan Hopkins won the Bomber feature with Steve Wade in second and Michael Votaw in third.

Dakota Collier made it two in a row with another win in the junior mini stock feature.  Taylor Florio and Hayden Wade had their best finishes of the year in second and third.

David Ballard, Larry Underwood, and John Fikes were the top three Texas Twisters.

Steve Barton made the trip to Victory Lane after besting the Texas Wing Modified field.  David Suggs was second, and Scott Trowell ran third.

I-Stocks and Wing Mini Sprints will be visiting next Friday night.

Roller Tops Hobby Stocks at HOT

Waco, TEXAS (March 29, 2013) – Andy Roller went home with the win in the IMCA hobby stock feature Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway.  Cody Frank followed in second, and Jeremy Oliver was third.

Keith White, Jarrod Jennings, and Johnny Sheets took the first three spots in the IMCA modified main.

Bobby Mercer, Jr. reached the checkered flag ahead of Kevin Green and Terry Buzbee in the IMCA SportMod feature.  Mercer also scored the win in the street stock main with Jason Gauntt in second and Ed Thompson in third.

Eric Jones took home the winner’s trophy for the I-stock feature with Anthony Otken in second and Jason Batt in third.

Cogburn Scores SportMod Win at HOT

Waco, TEXAS  (March 22, 2013)--    Chris Cogburn earned the trip to Victory Lane after winning the IMCA SportMod feature Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway.  Dean Abbey took the second place spot, and Bobby Mercer, Jr. finished in third.

Keith White, Chase Jupe, and Justin Radcliff were the top three IMCA modifieds to complete the feature race.

Matt Guillaume won the I-Stock feature on his first visit to the Speedway this season.  Dennis Bissonnette finished in second, and Peter Delavan ran third.

Nathan Sodek picked up another win in the IMCA hobby stock main followed by Shannon Dulock and Garret Rawls.

Bobby Mercer, Jr. collected the top prize in the street stock feature with Dean Abbey in second and David Khoury in third.

The bomber class winner was Steve Wade.  Ryan Hopkins placed second, and Amy Mercer had her season best finish in third.

Preston Jacobs continued his dominance of the junior mini stock class with another win.  Dakota Collier and James Hollingsworth were in second and third.

David Ballard, John Fikes, and Larry Underwood were the first three Texas Twisters to reach the finish line.

D.J. Estes, Dustin Davidson, and Colby Estes led the visiting non-wing mini sprints to the checkered flag in the feature race.

Next Friday will be the annual Easter Basket Giveaway at the Speedway.  Gates open at 6:00 and races begin at 8:00.

White Wins at HOT

Waco, TEXAS (March 15, 2013) – Keith White claimed the win in the IMCA modified feature Friday night at the Heart O' Texas Speedway.  Chase Jupe settled for second and Justin Radcliff took third. 

Kevin Green earned his first season win in the IMCA SportMod feature.  Bobby Mercer, Jr. ran second, and James Holder was third.

Nathan Sodek, Jeremy Oliver, and Shannon Dulock were the top three in the IMCA hobby stock feature.

Jason Batt took home the winner’s trophy in the I-Stock feature trailed by Peter Delevan and Tyler Muirhead in second and third.

Bobby Mercer, Jr. won the street stock feature.  David Khoury ran second, and Jason Gauntt finished in third.

The new bomber class winner was Kevin Harper followed by Steve Wade and Thomas Bailey.

Jupe Wins Opener at HOT

Waco, TEXAS (March 8, 2013) – Chase Jupe picked up the win in the IMCA modified season opener at the Heart O' Texas Speedway Friday night.  Keith White placed second, and Billy Bachmayer took third.

Bobby Mercer, Jr. claimed the win in the IMCA SportMod feature with Jeff Shepperd in second and David Goode in third.

Cody Frank won the IMCA hobby stock feature followed by Andy Roller in second and Garret Rawls in third.

The I-Stock feature winner’s trophy went home with Charles Cosper.  J.C. Howell ran second, and Tyler Muirhead took third.

Jason Gauntt picked up the win in the street stock feature.  Bobby Mercer, Jr. was second, and Wade White finished third.

Kevin Smith was the first winner in the new Bomber class, a blend of the former Cruiser and Pure Stock classes.  Ryan Hopkins and Steve Wade were the second and third place finishers.

Preston Jacobs, Dakota Collier, and Taylor Florio were the first three junior mini stocks to reach the checkered flag.

Larry Underwood was first in the Texas Twisters trailed by David Ballard and Grady Ary.
