ELM MOTT—Pat McGuire from Belton picked up his first I.M.C.A. modified win Friday night at the opening event of the 2008 racing season at the Heart O' Texas Speedway. Kenny Stone from Troy took the second place spot, and Johnny Sheets from Gatesville finished in third.

Lil’ Robert Black from Hallsburg held off 2007 track champ, Keith White from Academy, to score the win in the I.M.C.A. SportMod feature. White settled for second, and Bobby Mercer Jr., from China Spring ran third.

Nathan Sodek from Temple topped the I.M.C.A. hobby stock field followed closely by Chris Cogburn from Robinson. Shannon Dulock from Axtell was third.

Top three in the street stock class were Mark Geurin from Whitney, Ed Thompson from Waco, and Jason Gauntt from Elm Mott.

Timmy Kemp from Waco earned his first win of the season in the pure stock feature. Lil’ Robert Black ran second, and Tommy Honey from Waco took third.

William Dean from Elm Mott won the cruiser feature followed by Mike Van Cleave from Waco and Martin Quiram from Hubbard.

Garret Rawls from China Spring, Dillon Payne from Hillsboro, and Leon Alvarado from Riesel were the first three across the finish line in the junior mini stock class.

The winning cars in the visiting Texas Winged Modified class were numbers David Williams, Ronnie Reese, and Charlie Williams.

I.M.C.A. modifieds, I.M.C.A. SportMods, I.M.C.A. hobby stocks, street stocks, pure stocks, cruisers, and junior mini stocks will be competing again next Friday along with a visit from the Brazos Mini Sprints. Kids will be treated to an Easter Basket giveaway throughout the night with baskets donated by the drivers. Any child not winning a basket will be given a treat filled Easter egg. Gates open at 6:00 P.M. and racing begins at 8:00 P.M.
